What is dry needling?
Dry needling is a treatment to reduce painful trigger points.
Dry needling uses tiny filiform needles precisely placed in the muscular and connective tissues to stimulate the myofascial trigger points to improve the functionality of the muscles and reduce pain.
Very often, the myofascial pain is caused by restrictions of muscle tissue or the fascial layer of connective tissue that surrounds and supports the muscle.
Patients often call this pain as a “muscle knot”.
Dry needle produces so called a local twitch response (LTR). It's the LTR that leads to the resolution of this trigger point and therefore the reduction of your pain.
